TESTING METHODS
Scenario 1: In the first two clips squirrels were enticed to cross the barrier by hanging
squirrel food and peanut butter in-between two Line Guards. The Line Guards
were placed at a height of 6'6" that span between two poles. At this height
the squirrels could not reach the food from the ground, but still would not
hesitate to jump due to the minimal fall that would follow.
Findings: The Line Guard proves its absolute ability to keep squirrels from
crossing the barrier. As we thought, the squirrels took a "kamikaze" approach
at this testing height.
See for yourself what happens!
Scenario 2: The last clip shows a Red Squirrel's frustration in
trying to reach food located on the other side of the Line Guard. This test
took place at a height of 13' with a line strung between two trees.
Findings: The initial hypothesis on the testing height was true.
At a height of 13', the squirrels only had to realize the wheel was impassible
to forgo any attempts at crossing the barrier. We found that squirrels would
not intentionally jump and risk falling from such heights. The look on the
squirrels face in the picture below tells the story!
